| Overview:
Imagine yourself,
a black customer, going into a business only to receive substandard
customer service.
Imagine the
owner(s) of the business blatantly disrespecting you, other blacks
and even ridiculing you.
Now, imagine
the items being sold are highly consumed by the blacks and they
make-up 99% of the business' sales.
Then, imagine
that the majority of the black consumers are also being treated
this way for no apparent reason.
Also, imagine
that no matter which of the business' competitors you decide to
patronize, you get the same treatment.
Finally, imagine
the owners of all these businesses are non-black. How do you feel?
Powerless? Feel like you are on the plantation and have no choice
but to spend your money there anyway?
This happened
to Devin, but he decided to put his resources to work. He was thrown
out of a beauty supply store that was not black-owned and one time
is all it took for him to decide to “take
it back”.
